FTP, which is short for File Transfer Protocol, represents the most famous method for uploading content to a hosting account. Using FTP client software that is installed on your desktop PC or laptop, you can set up a connection to your hosting server and copy all of the web files that you need with a few clicks of the mouse. This is done using an easy-to-use graphical interface and it is as easy as dragging & dropping the files in question. The advantage of using FTP is the fact that you can set up different FTP accounts, each with a different level of access to your server space, so if you wish to provide somebody with access, for example – a designer, they’ll be able to connect only to one particular folder and won’t be able to access the remaining web content or any other information, including personal details. Three prerequisites are needed in order to be able to make an FTP connection – a hostname, which is usually an IP or a domain name, a username and a password.
FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting
You can set up as many FTP accounts as you want with any of the Linux shared packages that we are offering, as we have chosen not to limit this functionality. In this way, you can manage numerous sites at once or grant other individuals access to different directories. As soon as a given job has been fulfilled and you don’t want that person to be able to access your web files anymore, you can edit the password for the particular FTP account or you can just remove that account with a couple of clicks of the mouse and quit worrying about anybody accessing it once more. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all shared accounts, will permit you to view the complete list of the active FTP accounts shown in alphabetical order. It takes only one single click of the mouse to manage different options for any of them – to modify the access path or the password, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.
FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Using our in-house developed Hepsia website hosting Control Panel, you’ll be able to create as many FTP accounts as you would like, even multiple accounts with access to one and the same folder – in case you wish different users to be able to connect to the same web content with different login details. Our Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages don’t have any limitation on the total number of the FTP accounts that you can manage at a time, so you will be able to manage your website files and to modify your websites without effort. If you would like to stop the access to your website content, you can change the folder that an account can connect to or you can remove the account entirely with no more than a few clicks of the mouse from the Control Panel. You will be able to view all the accounts and to edit any of them, if necessary. For your convenience, you can also download an auto-configuration file for several FTP software programs. In addition, we have elaborate help articles and how-to videos, which will help you administer your FTP accounts without hassle.
FTP Accounts in VPS
With a virtual private server from us, you’ll have the option to set up an unlimited number of FTP accounts to connect to your web content. This is valid for all VPS setups, irrespective of the hosting Control Panel that you have selected during the order procedure – cPanel, DirectAdmin or Hepsia. Depending on your needs, you can have a separate FTP account for every site or several accounts with access to a certain folder – in case you would like to permit several individuals to access that folder using their own log-in details. Even if you’ve never opened a hosting account before or in case you’ve got experience only with a shared one, you will not have any problems setting up, deleting or modifying any FTP account on the Virtual Private Server, as everything is done through a user-friendly web-based interface and takes only a few clicks.
